I approached Helen a year ago to help me with my Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). I am a mother of three, wife and business owner, but my RA was starting to have a big impact on the quality of my life.
I have always been very athletic, independent and a high achiever. But my RA, most prevalent in my wrists and hips, means I have difficulty doing many tasks I use to take for granted such as writing, lifting, driving and preparing meals. In the kitchen I find opening jars, holding a knife or even carrying groceries a challenge. I was searching for answers around how I could best support my condition, how I could slow down the onset of the disease and what nutrition and lifestyle changes I could make to improve my health.

One of the biggest issues I had outside of mobility of joints and pain, was my sleep. My sleep deprivation was also impacting on my health, but I wasn’t sure how to improve my sleep.
Helen has been a wonderful guide. She takes the time each session to really listen to what is going on for me, without judgement. She doesn’t dismiss any sign or symptom. She explains what might be happening in my body based on what I notice. She even clarifies my blood results in a way that makes sense.
The combination of my disease and medications have been overwhelming at times. But Helen has been a calming partner in my journey. She has encouraged me to stay within what she calls my “circle of influence” which is everything that I can influence but not necessarily control. Working with this concept has helped me minimise feeling overwhelmed.
Together Helen and I have developed a nutrition plan which encompasses me enjoying a wide range of foods. I have discovered that adding rituals to my day is a wonderful way to create new habits to improve my diet, sleep and quality of life. We take a scientific approach to tracking my sleep, my blood glucose and my ketosis levels and this has helped me assess how the changes I have implemented have impacted my health. I set myself challenges every session to continue to make steps forward with my health.
