The Gut Health Coaching Program is a four-week introductory one-on-one coaching program, specially designed for people who are having digestive health issues.

The program includes four one-on-one sessions with Helen Cross, The Health Engineer, a work folder full of information, dietary recommendations and trackers to support your healing journey.
Together we will explore your health challenges and put together a customised nutrition plan to support your healing.
Helen will share what she has learned through her four years training as a Functional Nutrition Specialist, her experiences helping clients with a wide range of Gut Health issues and learnings from her own healing journey.

I’m a firm believer that you are not just what you eat, but what your body can do with what you eat. In other words, you are what you eat, break down and absorb.

The digestive tract is where we break down, absorb, and assimilate food that becomes the components that fuel the cells of the body.

Having proper digestion, absorption and assimilation is vital for optimal health.

Health Engineering sessions will be video sessions via Zoom or Facetime. Sessions with be booked at a regular weekly time during the working week.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Your gut - the digestive tract and how digestion works

Your digestive system (commonly called your Gut) is a 30-foot highway along which microscopic nutritients travels, and your cells are the final destination. What this means is that diet is fundamental, and so is the health of your digestive system. 

The relationship between how and what you eat, how you can process what you eat, and ultimately how you feel is undeniable. This is where food meets physiology.

I will teach you how to track your health through tracking key functions of your body as we gently explore making changes to your diet and lifestyle.

Specific digestive issues, leaky gut and your gut microbiome

Digestive health often appears as digestive dysfunction such as heartburn, constipation, gas, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, candida and more.

I will teach you how our body digests foods, the key players and how the health of the gut affects the health of many, if not all of our organ systems in the body.

We will discuss leaky gut and the health of your microbiome (bacteria that reside in your colon).  We will look at ways to improve your own gut issues. 

Your Mitochondria - the portion of every cell that transforms energy from food

We will also discuss the role of the mitochondria within each cell which converts the chemical energy or fuel from the food we eat into a form the cells can actually use to grow, reproduce, repair and respond. Fatigue is the most common symptom of poorly functioning mitochondria. In fact, the core reason we experience fatigue as we age is the constant insult and injury to our mitochondria.

Interventions for specific digestive issues including healing diets, therapeutic foods and supplements

We will discuss ways to support specific conditions including; gas and bloating, heartburn, acid reflux, GERD, constipation, diarrhoea, loose bowels, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and leaky gut. We will discuss symptoms, common causes, lifestyle treatments, food treatments and supplements to support healing.
