I had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism after the birth of my second child, but I knew my symptoms had been going on for a lot longer than that.
I was tired, my hair was falling out, and I had limited patience. My cycle was short (23 days) and I had pain in one of my breasts. My periods were also painful and I would also get restless legs in the first few days.
I’ve always been a big believer in the power of foods. I cook healthy foods every day to support the whole family. I had been on a supplement-based hormone protocol after getting a DUTCH test done, but it hadn’t made much of a difference to my symptoms.
I wanted to be pain free, energised, calm and positive for my family and friends. I wanted to be a healthy role model and lead by example for my beautiful children.
Through the Discovery Program, Helen gently helped me improve my health. Helen explained what was happening with my thyroid and my hormones to cause my symptoms. We focused on root cause resolution including improving my gut health, rebalancing my microbiome and decreasing my stressors.
I enjoyed her support and the accountability of our weekly sessions. One of my biggest learnings was taking more time out for myself.
My symptoms have improved and my cycle has actually extended by a few more days. I’ve created some good habits such as eating at regular times and being more consistent with my night routine. I’ve learned what foods and lifestyle choices better support my hormone health. I feel a new level of self-empowerment to look after my own health.
