I have always prided myself on being active, with hobbies including hunting, boating, clay target shooting, fishing and diving.
I have represented NZ in many masters clay bird shooting competitions around the world. When I semi-retired, I had big plans to get more involved with these activities. But between my angina, being overweight, my swollen ankles and my weak knees, I didn’t have the energy or motivation to enjoy my free time. In addition my doctor was concerned about my heart health.
My daughter was inspired to reach out to Helen after being referred by her girlfriend. My wife and I thought this was a perfect opportunity to also work with Helen, so our family could all go on a health journey together. I wanted to lose weight, improve my breathing, become more mobile and decrease my pain.
Helen suggested small, achievable steps each week towards my goals. I started eating more whole foods, decreased carbohydrates and increased my vegetable intake.
The foods I used to crave such as diet coke, sugar and pies faded into the background. I became much more conscious of what I was eating and how I was eating. Some of my big learnings were the importance of drinking water and chewing my food.
Helen helped me achieve all my goals.
Within a few months I lost 10kg and I started to feel amazing. Seeing results so quickly was very motivating. With my family being coached separately by Helen and sharing learnings was special and brought us even closer together.
I went for an ECG test after working with Helen for three months and my test results came back showing my heart was healthy. We had healed my heart!
My energy is so much better and my shooting accuracy has improved. I am looking forward to many years participating in my favourite activities.
I am grateful for the gift of my health, which Helen has helped me create. It really was a life changing experience for me.
