I came to Helen as I was concerned about my Hashimotos and the medications I was on for it. My skin was breaking out, I slept poorly and was tired all the time. I felt trapped in my own body and didn’t know what to do and where to go with this lifetime diagnosis and medications.
I also knew very little about foods, food choices and how they could impact these issues and my overall health. I worked long hours and ended up eating at random times, lots of convenience meals and diet Coke. I never gained weight so didn’t directly connect my diet with my health conditions.
Helen was revolutionary in her approach for me. Through her coaching program, we gently “crowded out” the foods that didn’t suit me and brought in more whole foods. I learned so much about what could nurture my body and what was working against me. She also encouraged me to experiment with foods to work out which suited me.
Through the process of crowding out, we introduced a lovely nutritious smoothie for breakfast, designed healthy lunch meal options that I could choose from, and planned dinners that energised me but helped me sleep better at night. Over the course of a few years I have gone from someone who didn’t really understand much about meal choices and didn’t know how to plan or cook a nutritious meal, to living a healthy life, really enjoying cooking meals for myself and my partner, and sharing my knowledge with my friends and family.
Today my skin looks so much better, I sleep well, and have bounds of energy. I’ve developed great new habits such as drinking lots of water and have a lovely sleep ritual before bed. I also (with my doctor’s blessing) no longer require medications to manage my Hashimotos. I also have a new love of cooking and pride myself in cooking for myself and my family through nutritious meals.
