Prior to meeting Helen, I was yoyo-ing between being mindful of food choices and running around too busy to care. I would often find myself slipping into old habits of bad food that were quick and easy. I could easily find myself eating healthy and exercising during the days, but binge eating at night.
I wouldn’t specifically define myself as sick. In fact I hadn’t seen my doctor since the birth of my son. But I had brain fog, fatigue, a lack of focus and weight gain especially around my middle and back. My motivation was low and I would find excuses not to exercise.
I used to loooove my sleep. But after my pregnancy, sleep really went south. It took a while to get my son into a good sleeping routine and once I had, I couldn’t seem to find mine.
My menstrual cycle was like a roller coaster. Prior to my period I would get pain, teary and want to eat the Gross Domestic Product of a small country! I would get very bloated and feel heavy for a few days. I also would easily get very angry or upset.
I was trying to be gentle on myself, but I had hit a wall. I didn’t know what to do, how to start, or what to start on. This is where Helen came to the rescue. Together we developed a framework for me to start making gentle changes to support me. We started slowly and did all the right ground work to achieve the results I had dreamt of.
I had shared with Helen that I wanted:
• more energy during the day,
• be able to run and keep up with my 5yr old son,
• to be proud of my body, and not uncomfortable in my clothes, and,
• to create an eating plan that was supportive of me.
In previous years I had tried Paleo, Keto, and many other diets. But these were directed from reading books. I realise now that a one-size-fits-all approach to diets and protocols doesn’t work. I needed a plan which was right for my body, needs and sensitivities.
Over Helen’s Discovery Program followed by her Designer Life Program, I changed every aspect of my life. I learned to prioritise myself, created lovely evening rituals and routines for my son and myself, improved my sleep and my poop. I now prioritise drinking water, eating whole foods and more vegetables.
I have lost 10kg and no longer have brain fog. I am proud of my body. I now feel like I have my hormones in balance and my cravings in control. I know how to look after myself and prioritise my time and time with my son. There is no going back. Thank you Helen for helping me be me again!
